Cell phone browsers
« on: June 25, 2007, 02:33:43 PM »
Has anyone tried accessing a web server app using a cell phone web browser?  I can't get past the login screen, the login button does not function.  Is there a work-around for this problem?

Hi John,

If you watch the server side screen, and you clear the log (so it's easy to spot) - does anything happen when the cell user clicks the login button?

Cheers

I can't get past the login screen, the login button does not function.
Same here, using a Dell Axim PDA with Windows mobile 5, accessing a website made with NT 4.25.

Another site, made with 4.18 (IIRC) displays login entries and buttons fine, all works corrects.

I use Opera mobile and the builtin IE, both behave the same in these cases.

I'm using Windows Mobile 5, the IE browser.  The login button doesn't show up at all, so there is nothing to submit.

I have not solved this yet, I haven't had time to really dig into it.  I think it has something to do with Java (but then, what doesn't?).

Jorge,

I got such an animal working with Nettalk 4.30. I first had this compiled with 4.25 but then it worked perfectly on desktop computers, but not on my PDA.

The device I am using is a Dell Axim 51v with Windows Mobile 5. The Internet Explorer does not work with these JavaScripts Nettalk is using, but I run Opera and this browser does what I expect!

There is a login-screen, the browses have buttons the usual navigation buttons and also for VIEW record, CHANGE record and SEND an eMail with a PDF attachement.

If you like to test your device send me a PM and then we make an appointment so that you can access my server. If you have Skype running we could chat while testing, would be helpful....

bye
Wolfgang
