Is there CapeSoft buy-in?
« on: June 17, 2007, 10:21:49 PM »
Hi All,

Has there been any contact with CapeSoft regarding this initiative?

If so, what was the response?

What I am most interested in is if they are going to post here?

Cheers

I sent Bruce at Capesoft an e-mail letting him know I was putting this up today.  I'm hopeful he'll be popping in from time to time...

Hi Chris,

I'll try and keep an eye out here to see what's happening.
As the number of users has increased I'm finding it hard to answer every request in good time, and often there are simple answers that others can ask, so the creation of a forum like this can only be a good thing if folks use it.

But I'll try and find time to keep an eye on it and comment from time to time.

Cheers

Thanx Bruce

I'm sure a site like this would ease the support forum, because everything is in one searchable place.

My current interest is in the Webserver. Would it be a good idea to create a bug tracker here (as a forum maybe?) and a feature request forum - then you can discuss your take on bugs and you and your users can discuss the need etc of proposed features.

Cheers

Chris

I'll be happy to create those boards if Bruce thinks they will be helpful... seems like a great idea!

Hi Chris,

I think the current approach of sending bugs directly to me is more useful at the moment. they get into the "queue" a lot easier from there. Most times I need private apps etc to complete a bug investigation, so most "forum" style bug reporting is not terribly helpful.

I take your point Bruce. Still having a centralised point where one can enter and dicsuss issues gives one a few specific advantages:

  • A central repositry.
  • One can search it to see if it has come up before.
  • Other users of Nettalk can post their experirnces and work arounds.
  • One can discuss it with other users and sometimes developers.
  • Developers can quickly give you an indication of their perception of the issue and their willingness to attend to it.

This site is based on Joomla, I'm almost certain it has a an issue tracker of sorts, then again you don't own NetTalk Central s having it here will probably not make sense to you.

My 0.02

Cheers

Chris

I added "Feature Requests" to each board.  Bug Reports need to go directly to CapeSoft.
