Title: How to default locator to a different field from default sort
Post by: Ubaidullah on October 23, 2020, 03:56:05 AM
Hi Bruce,

How can I make the default search column for the locator different from the default sort?

e.g. In an Item browse, I want the items displayed in item number sort order, but the locator search should default to the item description column.

I tried using the 'Sort' tab in the NetWebBrowse to specify a 'Default Sort Order' and a different 'Default Locator Field' but it did not achieve the desired result.

Regards,
Ubaidullah Nubar.

Hi Ubadullah,

So, to be clear, in your setup the user will never be able to locate on the item number?

cheers
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I see where this is going. So, if the user clicks on Item number, it searches on Item number. Which means that the locator is tied to the sort.

I think then it would be better to set the locator to search in all fields to get what I am looking for.

So, should I be adding the "Item Description" field to the "Locate on fields" of Item number?
