Hi Bruce, I just tried to mimic your example on the books(71) where you attached a browse to another browse which worked ok but then when I tried to open the attached browse form it all broke I have attached to this a modify example 71.

Hi Bruce please can you help on this please
-
yes, just slow because of the holidays.
-
Hi bruce holiday over, have you had a chance to have a look at this?
-
Hi bruce please :'( have you had a chance to have a look at this?
-
not yet. I'm converting a big app to C8, which will likely keep me busy till Friday. Then back to NT7 again...
-
For a work around try adding the child browse to the PageHeader menu and hide it by setting the item condition to 0. This will leave it off the menu and for me it let me open the update procedure. I have no idea why this works, but it did for me.

Hi bruce please have you had a chance to have a look at this now?
-
please , please bruce have you had a look at this?
-
Hi Olu,
I'm investigating this, but some of the code I added to make this happen has made other (page based) stuff stop working. So obviously I've prioritized the old behavior for now. I need to add some more code to make the browse-in-browse work as I want.
cheers

Hi Bruce,
So will it be fixed on 7.06 or for later updates
-
probably a bit later. I want to get 7.06 out today - there are a fair number of fixes in there folk are waiting for.
-
Hi Bruce, please are you going to look at this now, as people like me have sold this idea to clients after I saw it used in your webinar and thought it was a functioning feature only to find out it does not really work.
-
hi Olu,
it's very high on the list, but I only have the 4 pairs of fingers...
Cheers
Bruce

I know bruce, we just need those fingers working faster ;D , so is it going to be in the next update?
-
no, probably not the next update.
I've spent the last 2 weeks refactoring the object generation system we use, along with the approach for multi-dll apps, and also support for C8 multi-Proj across the tools. It's been a huge task but I think all the under-pinnings are ok now. I've completed 19 products so far, and I have about 8 or 9 more to do before they're all up to the same standard.
You've seen some of the results of that already with the StringTheory build causing NT apps to crash if the ST global extension is not added. So as soon as I've got this task complete I need to post an NT update (NT is one of the very few tools we make, that's shipped as objects in source code, but which is unaffected by the change) so that there is an error generated if ST is missing.
So I won't be making major changes for the next build, just the accumulated fixes, and the warning.
But hopefully I will be able to work on it a bit after that.
First I have to get my big app to build so I can be sure the new underlying system is actually working and I can release all the changes I've made to the other products.
It's been a huge job, and it sweeps across almost all the products, but the result is a much more consistent experience, and also some consistency for the products going forward.
Cheers
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Its been over two months ago I first raised this issue which you said you were going to look at, but still waiting please can you look at this now.
-
Hi!
I agree with Olu. That's would be very useful for NT apps
-
Hi Bruce,
PLEASE PLEASE when are you going to look at this issue!
-
I've not been ignoring it Olu.
Unfortunately it is proving to be a very tough nut to crack. With 7.11 I'm simplified some of the internal architecture though which I think might help so I can take another crack at it.
cheers
Bruce
