Nettalk sending email SMTP error in RDP
« on: July 03, 2019, 05:55:51 AM »
Nettalk 9.31
Clarion 10.0.12799

I have a client using my Clarion app from Remote Desktop (RDP).
They are sending mail by SMTP.
When i take over the RDP it works fine and several others too, but from 1 system, when sending mail by SMTP, i directly get this error:

Error: Unable to Open Connection to smtp02.hostnet.nl:587

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Rob

>> but from 1 system,

So you are saying;
If I RDP from say machine 1 to server 1 it works ok.
But if I RDP from machine 2 to server 1 (ie the same server) then it does not work ok?

cheers

Yes, that's right Bruce, so it must be something local i guess.

We've been checking AV and firewall, but that didnt change a thing.

One thing I'd check is if machine 2 is connected to a VPN at the time they are doing the RDP.
I've seen really weird networking behavior when a VPN is running on my machine.

So that's what I'd look for first.

cheers

Hi Bruce,

No that's not the case here.

are the two machines logging into RDP as the "same user"?
Or are they different users on the server machine?

They are different users, each machine has his own log in.

When we log in (on the problem machine) with a user from another machine, it works also fine on that machine.

Hi Bruce,

Stop thinking! Well  about this i mean.

We found out that the RDP users where it was working all started from the same map with the program in it.
Normally each RDP user has his own map for the program.
We just copied and pasted the program from the working map to the other maps and it worked in all of them now.
Maybe there was some dll missmatch.

Thanks for thinking with me!

Greetings,
Rob
