Example website created with Clarion/NetTalk/ExtJS
« on: September 21, 2008, 11:43:10 AM »
The single most important benefit of Clarion is reduced software development
effort. Clarion developers complete projects in a third of the time that
would be required by Visual Basic, Delphi, or PowerBuilder developers. The
reason is simple: The Clarion application generation technology creates
source code that programmers don't have to write. This is all true for
Windows programs.

On the Internet (client browser) side, Clarion isn't doing very much.
However, there are great Javascript frameworks available, of which ExtJS is
the best (IMHO).

What I want to do, is bring people together who wants to participate to a
project that brings Clarion power (the template language) to the Internet
browser.

In other words, create templates to generate Javascript/ExtJS code that
integrates ExtJS with Clarion server programs running on CapeSoft NetTalk
technology.

The same time, I want to joint-develop a webshop e-commerce application,
based on Clarion/NetTalk/ExtJS using the templates we will create.

I've created a tutorial on using ExtJS with Clarion here:

Please have a look and feel free to contact me.

Hi Patrick,

I applaud your initiative at integrating ExtJs with NetTalk. I have investigated using ExtJs directly on an number of occasions.

Unfortunately the ExtJs license (GPL 3) is not ideal for many projects. If I were to bundle ExtJs with NetTalk there would be a fairly serious licensing problem for most NetTalk users.

That said, if there are "hooks" that can be added to NetTalk in order to make using ExtJs easier for you I would be happy to consider adding them for you.

Developers can of course purchase a commercial license of ExtJs (thus negating the requirements of GPL 3.)

Good luck with the project, and please keep us posted with your progress.

Cheers
Bruce

Patrick,

Been a fan of Ext for a while now, sounds like some great ideas you've got.

Taking a look at the site now.
