Are Multi-component Keys supported for Lookups ?
« on: August 02, 2010, 07:39:10 PM »
Hi Folks,

I have a Field (ORD:ClientAbbrev) on a form that I want to use as a lookup. The  lookup table (CLIENTS) is keyed(ordered) by CompanyID + ClientAbbrev

I want to grab the ClientAbbrev  and fill it into The Form Field (ORD:ClientAbbrev) along with other field values.

Selecting the lookup button and then selecting a record in the CLIENTS Browse, does the trick.
However, I would like to simply type in the Client Abbreviation and have the form do the lookup and refresh the form field values.
This does not appear to work for a Muti-Keyed scenario.( after a day of experimenting... ).

Am I missing something in the template, or should I be handcoding the multi-keyed lookup?

In theory multi-component keys are not supported at all yet, although they do work in _some_ situations.
In the case of lookups though, no I don't think it'll work. It's something I'm working on, but it'll be a littel while yet before that's complete.

cheers
