Title: Items added to ServerSettings Group disappear
Post by: CaseyR on January 18, 2018, 03:04:06 PM
I am using the ServerSettings template and added several items to the new ServerSettings Group.    These were saved successfully but later they disappeared.  This seems to be related to the accessing the Structure Editor after a failed compile.  I tried again but at some point they disappeared again.

I was hoping to replace my own server settings tps file with these new variables in the Xml.  Is there anyway to avoid these unexpected deletions?

Thanks.

Hallo Casey,

I don't think it's allowed to add/change the ServerSettings group generated by template.
It will generate every time you compile.

I have separate group where I save/load my additional settings.

Probably best to add a second group as Robert suggests - however if the settings are for WebServer or related settings let me know and I might add them to the shipping group anyway.

Thanks, Robert

Essentially that is what I have now, just in a TopSpeed file.  I will dig into Xfiles as an alternative some time in the future.

Bruce,

The settings I was trying to save are those for connecting to an email server (use email, server name, port, user, password, 2 tls settings).  Speaking of email,  any change of having a single ssl/tls setting with three options (none, always, start) instead of 2 separate settings.  A bit confusing for admins.  I could program around it, but that might cause problems in the future.

I agree Radio buttons on the screen would be a better fit.

For now just add your own radio option, and set the properties appropriately.
I don't think that will cause any problems going forward.
