Strange Behaviour
« on: January 08, 2009, 11:19:29 AM »
Hello,

I am having a problem with nettalk 4.31 PR 28. When showing an updateform, an error sometimes appears. It looks like it is random, there is no way to reproduce it, except clicking on a link for an update form several times. I have enclosed a doc where the error is shown. It is not a very usefull error message, but I hope that someone recognise it.

Thanks,
Wilco

This is the Internet Explorer cannot open ... Operation aborted message.

I have been seeing it in random places as well.

As i understand it, something crept in (as a result of an IE issue) and Bruce made a quick fix over the holidays.  But something is still amiss in the current build i believe.   I can press ok, refresh and continue, however this is new behaviour since middle of December.

I am fairly certain, my primary Nettalk development world and test machine  has had NO Updates to windows or IE, since this started only Nettalk build changed, so I feel this is something in Netalk - though Bruce may have been forced to do something in reacting to Microsoft update, That woke up a dormant problem.

I am testing both ie6 and ie7 and ff, so far i have noticed this in ie7 only and usually after a long delay of inactivity (perhaps a nettalk timeout or ie cache expires???

Anyway i assume this issue will bubble to the top of bruce's todo list...

Hi,

Yes I just updated to pr26 today. My app is not working from IE anymore. In particular with netwebpage procedures. I get messages about IE not being able to open the page. Firefox is still fine.

Before pr26 IE 8 was not working. Now IE 7 is not working in a stable manner.

@Poul,

I have tested it with IE6, it happens a lot less, but it still happens. Firefox is working ok.

@Ozejohn,
it is indeed always on a webpage.

Thanks to both.

@Bruce,
Do you have any idea when you can fix this ?

Thanks to all,
Wilco

Hi,

Download PR29.

The page still says PR28 but Bruce has just put PR29 up.

I tested and my IE errors are gone.

Hello all,

I have installed the latest beta as well and done some quick tests and it looks like the problem is gone.

Thanks all for the help.

Best,
Wilco
