Hi All,
Well it's official. We'll be releasing the first public edition of NetTalk 5 at the OzDevcon in Eden this year. I'll do a "special bonus session" at end of day Monday (October 12th) and after that NetTalk 5 will be available to the public.
During the session I'll focus on the changes to the web server, and the new stuff that's been added - some of which you already know about, and some of which is less well known.
For those attending the Devcon I'll be available during the week to assist with upgrading apps from NetTalk 4 - so those bringing laptops should definitely come prepared.
I hope to record the session and post it online sometime in the week that follows.
Cheers

I forgot to mention the complete schedule for the Aussie Devcon is here.

If you're able to get the devcon it's well worth the trip - and I highly recommend it. There are some spaces left so it's still not too late to register.

A pre-release build of NetTalk 5 is available here

Please note that I haven't updated the docs yet. And there's bound to be some broken stuff so proceed with caution on production systems.

PR12 is up.
Key new feature in this release is support for popup-lookups.
To use them simply check the box that says "make lookup a popup" (or words to that effect) on the Lookup Options tab. See example 7 for more.
Only caveat - popup lookups can't use the "View" button to allow the user to see more of the record.
Before you ask - popup Forms are a possibility at some point in the future - as are lookups from an EIP browse. Neither are implemented in this build though - I think it's probably helpful to get the lookups out and you can use that while I'm working on the others.
