Web Server - Ask For Help / NT8 and Secwin
« on: March 18, 2014, 03:06:59 AM »
Does NT8 work with secwin?  I would like to move an application in development to NT8 from NT7 that requires secwin.

I am trying to identify where in secwinwebloginform that a user is logged out.

Looks like logout button in main menu just places a call to secwinwebloginform.  I am trying to refresh top page after logged out.

Bruce, I am using SecWin so it is going to the secwinloginform which I guess checks if user logged in then does a logout.

Should I attempt to put a self._sendfile to the index page in an embed in secwinloginform?

How about the failure of set menu access to find any items until a "key" on browse or form accessed?

Was the vid helpful?  I thought it was sort of cool way of showing things.  You don't always follow my logic or lack thereof in my posts. :)

This normally happens after a logout and then login.

I have also noted another issue that I believe stems from the same source.

If a user logs out any menu items he has access to are available until the home button is hit.

If he updates a form the parent browse isn't updated until an insert of an item is done.

All done without being logged in.  I am going to attempt to have the logout button select home in an attempt to work around the security issue.

Web Server - Ask For Help / Set menu access issue
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:40:26 AM »
Hi, I mentioned this previously but felt that it had been specific to IE 11.  It doesn't appear to be.  After importing the DCTX provided in Secwin 6.31 all functions properly except that it seems that there is a refresh issue between the secwin datafile and the memory files... or some such.  I made a short video showing what happens.

The link is below

http://screencast.com/t/NRtrRUfB4pT

I can proceed as is now that I know how to get around it but very inconvenient... at least during intial development of security strategy.  I doubt that the menu will change from day to day once the project gets into production.

Thanks.

Thanks, that did it!

Only issue is warning in secwin login form about loc:user being duplicated but this is a warning and all works well, both DCTX importing and groups now showing in groups tab of operator.

Yes, Nick... I could code a basic security system... but I need the functionality of runtime access to screen, fields and menus I would be hard pressed to write myself.

« on: February 18, 2014, 09:05:40 AM »
I have not gotten to that point in current (NT 7.34) application.

I did it differently in NT6 (probably the hard way).  I either called a memory for for input and then set session values.  Then in my CPCS report I set report filter based on get of session values.  For a single record you could set the session value to a unique value for record in embed of inline button on browse and then filter on that in report.

I am sure there are many ways to do this.  The way I have done it is pass the value of a unique id such as what is used in primary key.  I am also well into my forgetting years.  Between age and not keeping at it full time it gets hard to stay on top of things.

Good luck.

I am using them.  I have a very successful application done with CW7, NT6 and Secwin.

However I am currently experiencing difficulties with a new app using CW8, NT7 and Secwin.  Issues seem to be with secwin database but I am not really sure.  If you have a working system I would suggest staying with it for the time being.  I wish I had not done the upgrades I did and may have to move back in order for this new app to progress.

I will let you know if I make further progress.

I have installed secwin v6.31 from download but don't see the DCTX's.  The TXD's still don't run past the [RELATIONS] line of the TXD.  I noticed that the TXD's file date is still 8/15/2013.

And the template registry still shows secwin v6.30.

Bruce could you send me a copy of the NTSecwin files in DCTX format?  I think this must be my issue with this.

Thanks.

I do not think this is an issue with NetTalk... if I switch to chrome this does not happen.

Possibly some issue with refreshing?  Dunno...

Only issue left is groups not working which may be a function of my having to manually setup secwin files and relationships.

I notice that after creating user groups all groups have "noaccess" for both level and initial access.

I have opened the dssw5.tps table and although I can see users I see no groups.

Which might be the reason why I cannot assign users to groups.  :)
